Lucia Pulido is one of those rare artists whose outstanding individuality and personality is able to embrace a wide array of musical styles - pure tradition as well as strong, experimental avant-garde jazz. What makes her so special is her continuous search for singing in different ways and finding new sounds for her instrument. I believe she is one of the few serious, tradition-conscious musical innovators of our time. With her mesmerizingly warm voice, she sang straight into the ears and hearts of the crowd. Lucia Pulido is a Colombian singer with one of the richest voices on the international Latin American musical scene today. She has mined the musical traditions of her native Colombia and other Latin American countries in an ongoing search for a distinct, experimental style. The New York Times says: "Ms Pulido holds on to the rawness of the original melodies while giving them a sophisticated new context". This richness can be seen in her different ensembles and repertoires.
Lucia Pulido with her band pays homage to the "chirimía", one of the many types of Colombian street bands, through a highly experimental style. Traditional genres such as cumbia and bullerengue from the Atlantic Coast, currulaos from the Pacific Coast as well as joropos of the Colombian Eastern Plains are the point of departure for musical creativity. Lucía's vocal sophistication is enhanced in genres such as herding songs (cantos de vaquería), funeral laments (alabaos) and harvest chants (cantos de zafra) which give the singer the liberty to explore her voice fully. The ensemble also performs songs written for Lucía by composers Iván Benavides and Sebastián Cruz. Cruz is currently the ensemble's arranger and musical director.

Lucia Pulido ist eine kolumbianische Sängerin mit einer der kraftvollsten Stimmen der aktuellen lateinamerikanischen Musikszene. Sie hat die musikalischen Traditionen ihrer Heimat Kolumbien in einer nicht enden wollenden Suche nach einem experimentellen, klaren Stil durchforstet.
In der New York Times stand über sie "Ms. Pulido behält die Rohheit der originalmelodien bei, während sie diese in einen neuen anspruchsvollen Kontext versetzt." Der sehr experimentelle Stil Lucia Pulidos und ihrer Band ist eine Hommage an die "Chirimía", eine der vielen Stilrichtungen kolumbianischer Straßenbands. Traditionelle Genres, wie die "Cumbia", und der "Bullerengue" von der Atlantikküste, "Currulaos" vom Pazifik und "Joropos" aus Kolumbiens Osten sind die Ausgangspunkte ihrer Kreativität.
Lucias stimmliche Reife und Vielseitigkeit wird durch Musikgenres wie Herdenlieder (cantos de vaqueria), Klagelieder (alabaos) und Erntedankgesänge (cantos de zafra) noch erweitert. Das Ensemble präsentiert auch Lieder, die von den Komponisten Iván Benavides und Sebatián Cruz für Lucia Pulido geschrieben wurden.

Lucia Pulido, cantante colombiana, posee una de las voces más ricas de la escena musical latinoamericana contemporánea. En su obra cultiva un estilo experimental elaborado a partir de las tradiciones musicales de Colombia y América Latina. El periódico New York Times afirma: "Lucía Pulido mantiene la fuerza de las melodías originales al mismo tiempo que les da un contexto nuevo de alta sofisticación." Esta riqueza se puede comprobar en sus diferentes ensambles y repertorios.
Lucia Pulido con su banda rinde homenaje a la sonoridad de la chirimía callejera colombiana. Géneros tradicionales como la cumbia y el bullerengue de la costa Atlántica, el currulao del Pacífico, y el joropo de los Llanos Orientales, son el punto de partida para su estilo altamente experimental. La creatividad vocal de Lucía sale a relucir en géneros como los cantos de vaquería, los alabaos y los cantos de zafra, que le ofrecen libertad para explorar su voz. Con este ensamble Lucía también interpreta canciones compuestas para ella por los compositores Iván Benavides y Sebastián Cruz, actual arreglista y director musical del grupo.
